Welcome to #AllergyJC blog! Go to Twitter for the real #AllergyJC

Note: This is a proposed setup, open for your suggestions. Reply on Twitter or send email if you would like to be notified when #AllergyJC is relaunched. Here is the list of suggested articles for #AllergyJC. You can comment directly in the document on Google Drive.

The first medical journal club on Twitter was launched by me and co-fellows during our allergy/immunology fellowship program in 2008. A poster was presented during the 2009 ACAAI meeting and the abstract was published in the Annals of Allergy and Immunology. Fellows and attendings from different A/I programs, other physicians and the general public participated in several sessions of the allergy journal club (#AllergyJC). I discontinued that first journal club in 2009 due to lack of time and the logistics of transition from a fellow to an assistant professor at University of Chicago.

There was a medical journal club on Twitter in 2010, and a urology journal club in 2011. The second one uses an "asynchronous" format to account for the different time zones of participants and the discussion lasts 48 hours: Twitter Chat Tools for International Urology Journal Club - BJUI http://buff.ly/1dvAqgB. Read more about the history of Twitter Journal Club here: The First Journal Club on Twitter - Then and Now http://buff.ly/1hsb3aO

The founder of the urology journal club and I discussed the brief history of medical journal clubs on Twitter, and I decided the relaunch #AllergyJC after the 2014 AAAAI meeting.

#AllergyJC is completely open, free and democratic. Anyone can suggest articles, participate or lead the discussion.

Everyone's welcome to join the discussion of journal articles on 2nd and 4th Sunday every month for 48 hours. How to join in? Go to Twitter and type #AllergyJC in the search box. The #AllergyJC will be active for 48 hours starting from 8 PM Central Time on Sunday to 8 PM Central Time on Tuesday.

The #AllergyJC Twitter account is @AllergyJC. If we don't follow you, send us an email to AllergyGoAway AT gmail DOT com.
